Reminders of the week:

  • Hot lunch tomorrow for those who ordered them!
  • Please send layers of clothing with your children to school for recess. Many do not have appropriate clothing.
  • The math quiz will be coming home today, I encourage parents to take a look at it. I have decided to void the first two questions as there was a lot of confusion and we now have discussed it in class together.
  • Mission Fair money due tomorrow!
  • Please respond to Mme Ethier or Mlle Smith if you are or can not bring cupcakes/cookies/cake for our Cake Walk Friday. We prefer if they can be sent to school Thursday so we know how many more we will need to bring.

Homework - Oct 8

Hi parents,

Tonight the students have Babouche comprehension questions from Ch. 7 to finish for correcting tomorrow.

We have our Dictée spelling test tomorrow. They need to show that they used at least one of the spelling strategy sheets tomorrow to prove they have studied outside of school and to motivate out-of-the-box ideas for studying words.

Adopt-a-school is over this Saturday at 11pm so please don't forget to Adopt St. Margaret's once a day!

I will post the homework for the long weekend tomorrow.

Thank you for the home support!

Mlle Smith

Here is a PDF printable file of the Spelling Strategies sheets if you wish to print more copies at home! Please email me if you are unable to access these worksheets, thanks!

Spelling Strategies

Hi parents,

Starting this week, I am sending the students home with a plastic slip in their orange duotang called the Spelling Strategy booklet with worksheets to help them become familiar with different strategies to study their dictée words. This can of course be used for spelling words in english. I made the sheets bilingual if parents wish to help their child's studying.

I will be doing examples in class of each strategy as the weeks come and there are extra photocopies of each strategy sheet available in the classroom to restock their plastic slip. I explained to students that they must show me at least 1 spelling strategy completed from the Spelling Strategy Booklet by Friday before their dictée test.

Thank you for encouraging this practice at home!

Mlle Smith
