The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

By now your child should be done reading the novel "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". There are activities that were assigned two weeks ago and that need to be handed in. Please ask your child if he/she has done so. These will be going home Monday evening if they are not completed by then.

December letter/reminders

December 9, 2015

Dear Parents,
Thank you all of you for the incredible turnout last night for our Advent celebration at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church.   We are extremely proud of our students.  They were great role models for the rest of the students there and we are sure that they will continue doing so.  Thank you for the support you show us at school.  Our students are growing towards a more positive direction every day. We feel that has everything to do with the communication we have with you and how we all work together for the children.
I just sent a “remind” text with this message yesterday and I am in emailing it as well as I didn't want anyone to miss the message.  Each child in the class will be participating in our Advent Celebration Weeks 3 & 4 in the gym on Monday, December 14 @ 8:45. The celebration sheet is on the blog in case your child forgets his/her copy at school.  If your child will not be here on December 14th, please let us know right away.
** I do not want to harp on this gift exchange too much, but I need to know if you are unable to send a gift for the gift exchange next Friday.  If your child is female, send a female or neutral gift, if he is male send a male/neutral gift. If you cannot send one, please send a message ASAP, so I can go out and pick something up as we want everyone to receive a gift Friday morning.**
Your child will also tell you that we have decided to have a pot luck lunch on Thursday, December 17 at noon in the lab. There are some children who have already volunteered to bring gluten free/egg free food. Please check with your child to see if he/she was one of those students. We are suggesting they bring food that is a tradition in your family or that is from your family’s culture/background.  The students are studying this in French, English and Social Studies, so we thought we would go one step further.  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT NOTHING YOU SEND TO SCHOOL CAN HAVE ANY TYPES OF NUTS.
The school is hosting a talent show that Friday afternoon.  If your child auditioned and made the list, they should be practicing for that as well.  Please make sure that they have all their props/music they need for that afternoon.
*** As you may or may not know, we are the juice/milk recyclers for our school. This is a smelly job, but it does have some perks.  As a treat for doing all this work for our school, I am buying our students in our classroom KFC for lunch on December 15.  Please send a juice and snacks as usual that day as I will not be providing that.***
There are still some people having issues with finding the dictée/spelling tests on the blog.  Once you are on the blog go to September on the right side of the page.  Click on it. Scroll down to find English or French Language Arts. Click on it. Scroll down until you find the date you are looking for. This should take you to the list you are looking for. If you still have trouble, please come in and see us and we will be more than happy to help you.
Hot lunch forms are due today.  If you have any at home and you still want to order, please let me know via email and I will send it in today and you can send the money tomorrow.  This is the hot lunch for Friday, December 18th.
We are still having dictée and spelling tests this week and next week.  Please have your child explain which spelling strategies they are working on this week.  They should be studying this at least 10-15 minutes per night along with their multiplication and division facts.

We do have many things going on in the last week of school. It is going to be busy and tiring all at the same time.  We would like this week to run as smooth as possible, so please let us know if there are any concerns.
